Home Options offers a range of sheltered properties, including flats and bungalow schemes, across Greater Norwich.
Facilities available vary from scheme to scheme but the facilities available at a particular property will be shown in the property advert. Sheltered properties are connected to alarm services so that residents can get help in an emergency. Most schemes have access to a scheme manager, who is able to support residents and help them maintain their independence. Some schemes have communal facilities that enable residents to participate in, or run, scheme activities.
If you are interested in bidding for sheltered properties you must inform the Housing Options staff when you apply. Alternatively, if you are already registered with Home Options, please contact your local authority who will update your application. To qualify for a sheltered property you must have a support need, which will be assessed by the scheme landlord at the point of offer. You must also meet the age criteria set by the scheme landlord, which is normally a minimum age of over 55 or over 60 years.
The figures below show the number of sheltered properties let in 2010. You can use this information to help you decide what type of property you would like to bid for.
There is high demand for many of the sheltered bungalow schemes but the majority of properties which become available are sheltered flats. There are only a very small number of 2 bed sheltered properties.
