Change to application process for Home Options (October 2011)

From 7th November 2011 you will no longer be able to apply online for Home Options.  From this date new applicants will need to approach their local authority individually to discuss their housing requirements.

The removal of the online application form is part of the wider changes that are affecting Home Options.  In place of the online application process each council will be offering one-to-one telephone or face-to-face interviews in order to assess individuals and their housing need.  This will help ensure that individuals are given the best advice possible about their particular housing needs.

Details of how to apply from the 7th November can be found on the How To Apply page.

'R' Type Flats (June 2011)

A local lettings agreement was agreed on 8th June 2011 allowing Norwich City Council to increase the two bedroomed property types available for smaller households to bid for. From bidding cycle commencing 8th June those households requiring two bedroom accommodation to meet their housing need will be able to bid for first floor 'r type' flats within Norwich City Council stock. These properties, generally built in the 1940s and 1950s as family accommodation, have their own private garden, an entrance on the ground floor and their own internal staircase to living accommodation on the first floor of a two storey house.

Revised Home Option Policy (August 2010)

The Home Options Policy has recently been revised to include an additional criteria where reduced preference can be applied. This now means that if anyone deliberately did or failed to do something which, in consequence, led to a worsening of their housing circumstances their banding preference could be reduced.

NELM local lettings policy (August 2010)

Applicants need to be aware that the NELM (North Earlham, Larkman and Marlpit) local lettings policy, which allowed under-occupation of houses in that specific area of Norwich, has now expired. From 11th August 2010, properties in the NELM area will be allocated in accordance with Home Options policy, meaning that applicants will no longer be able to bid for properties larger than their household requires.
